Marvel’s Kevin Feige Clarifies If ‘Captain Marvel,’ ‘Black Panther’ Will Be Origin Stories

Captain Marvel

Traditionally, a major superhero of a major franchise would get his or her introduction in an origins story. That wasn’t the case for Black Panther as he was the first major Marvel superhero to be welcomed into the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. He will still get a chance to shine in his own solo titular film come February 2018. But looking at the schedule for upcoming films, the MCU narrative dynamic is going through a bit of a change as some heroes won’t get origins stories and some will get origins stories (but even that will be interesting to see).

Yesterday, Kevin Feige stopped by to visit one of the special 15-minute screenings of Doctor Strange that was held across the country to talk about the future of the MCU and confirmed that Black Panther “won’t be” an origins film and added that Captain Marvel will be an origins film. Birdman Michael Keaton in talks for Spider-Man

Just a few weeks ago it looked like Sony and director Jon Watts were going to have to find a new actor to play the villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Academy Award winner Michael Keaton was the frontrunner for the role, as reports spread about his possible casting. However, the actor seemingly dropped out of the running.

However, it seems as though the thought of being in a Spider-Man movie that is now a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could not escape the actor, as he is now back in talks to star in the same role. There are also reports that there will be more than just one villain in the film. Find out more here below.

Avengers Defenders possible crossover

When it was announced that Marvel would be expanding the MCU on Netflix by airing four series based on heroes of New York City, it was hoped that such an expansion would mean that said heroes would appear in the final two Avengers filmssoon to be retitled. But finding a way to fit 67 characters into the two films would be problematic and highly unlikely to happen.

But having all the characters from the films and television would be a true comic book movie event of epic proportions. Now that Captain America: Civil War has had its hugely successful opening weekend, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently talked about the possibility of the crossover happening in the two upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films once more. Check out what they had to say below.

For months it has been rumored, semi-confirmed, and joked about on the junket circuit and late night talk show circuit, but now it is official: Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to co-star in Spider-Man: Homecoming!
