Goon is one of those movies that will sneak up on you and surprise you. You see it for what seems like forever pop up in your suggestions on Netflix, and then when you finally decide to give it a shot; it hits you across the back of the head with its cleverness and its subtleties as well. Primarily a comedy film, Goon has some deep-rooted social commentary within, with a unique and noteworthy performance from Seann William Scott. Directed by Michael Dowse, and roughly based on a true story that served as inspiration for the basis of the tale, Goon follows Doug Glatt (Scott) caught in a rut in his daily life. He feels despondent and isolated, and unconnected – the black sheep of the family, and only one buddy in the form of foul-mouthed hockey TV commentator Pat (Jay Baruchel). With a talent in fighting, Glatt goes through life as a bouncer for a local club, while passionately keeping track of his favorite sport, hockey.

| Emma Watson & Liev Schreiber Up For Roles In Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’
When Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth were cast in Darren Aronofsky‘s biblical epic, Noah, as Noah’s (played by Russell Crowe) sons, we learned that Liam Neeson was no longer being considered for the role of the villain and also that there was a love interest role for Noah’s older son, Shem (to be played by Lerman). Now we know who will be playing as his love interest and who might be Neeson’s replacement. According to a report from Deadline, Harry Potter star Emma Watson is now in talks to play as the unnamed love interest for Shem. As for Neeson’s replacement, X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Liev Schreiber is now being considered to fill the role. Yeah, I am just as surprised as you to hear there will be a villain in the film. But according to the report, Schreiber is the top contender for the job.

| SDCC 2010: ‘Salt’ Panel With Angelina Jolie & Liev Schreiber |
 |

Considering that worldwide mega-star Angelina Jolie‘s new action-spy movie, Salt, was raring up for release this weekend, it seemed a bit strange that they would hold a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2010. Nevertheless, the panel was held and Jolie herself was in attendance (to the many dropping jaws of fanboys galore, no doubt) to promote her new venture. She was joined by Liev Schreiber, director Phillip Noyce, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The movie tells the story of a CIA agent who’s accused of being an undercover Russian spy. The accusations force her to go on the run, trying her best to avoid being captured while also attempting to prove her innocence. Because Salt was all but out when the panel was held, not much was shared here. It was just a cameo appearance of sorts to say hi to the Comic-Con faithful, show some footage, and answer fan questions. Things started off with trailer for the movie. Surely almost everyone there had seen something from the movie already, but it’s always nice for those who are excited about a movie to see something new.
