| Oni Press Unveils New Logo
Independent comic book publishing company Oni Press is following suit in this season’s redesigns when they unveiled a brand new logo on Thursday that will soon be on all upcoming releases. For the first time since the company’s first appearance on the comic book scene in 1997, Oni Press has announced that it’s time for a change. The company has evolved, and they’re simply not the same company that they were when they debuted. And I have to agree.

Much to the chagrin of two of my very good friends, who’ve been trying to get me to read this book for months, this was the first time that I’ve read The Sixth Gun. I have to admit, right off the bat, they were right. It’s, let’s just say, unique. And not in a weird or strange way, I mean it literally. I’ve never read a comic quite like this before. Keeping in mind that this was the first time I’ve read this book, overall The Sixth Gun #16 was very enjoyable. This issue was part five of a story arc, but, for the most part, I was still able to understand what was going on. There were a few spots were I was a little confused, but nothing that kept me from having a great time reading this book.

Sketch Monsters, Book 1: Escape of the Scribbles
Written by Joshua Williamson

Book Design by Keith Wood
Oni Press
Release date: October 26, 2011
Cover Price: $12.99
Eight-year-old Mandy isn’t a big fan of expressing her feelings and emotions. Instead, she prefers to draw her emotions as monsters in her sketchbook. One day, the monsters escape from her sketchbook and the only help she has to catch them is a monster named Happster. Sketch Monsters: Escape of the Scribbles was a very enjoyable all-ages book. The theme of the book deals with expressing your emotions instead of keeping them bottled up inside. This theme is a good one to teach children and expresses a good life lesson. The book deals with an 8-year old-girl who doesn’t express her emotions well and essentially shuts her feelings off. Her only release is drawing her emotions as different monsters. I had a lot of fun reading this particular book. It’s a good read for children as well as adults.

| The GoD List: Comics for June 1, 2011 |

Each week, MK2Fac3 and Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull list, grab some issues and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of June 1, 2011. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. Apparently, I took all the comics that MK2Fac3 wanted to talk about this week, which I can’t be held responsible for, so you fine readers will get an extra helping of my suggestions. I hope you enjoy.
ISSUES Criminal: Last of the Innocent #1 (Marvel/Icon – $3.99): I’m very excited that Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips‘ Criminal is back with a new story. Criminal is consistently one of the best books on the market and it’s a shame that more people don’t give this book a shot. Every story arc is a self-contained story, but Brubaker also has created a universe where all of the stories exist and long-term readers are rewarded with Easter Eggs showing how the stories are connected. The art by Sean Phillips sets the perfect mood for this series and always impresses. If you’ve been reading Brubaker and Phillips’ Incognito but haven’t been reading Criminal, it’s time to jump on board. And if you haven’t been reading Criminal or Incognito, well then you have a lot of reading to do.
