Wow. INTENSE! That’s the only way I can describe how I feel after watching this week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And a huge reveal at the end only added to the it’s impactfulness. Spoilers ahead!
Everyone is still questioning Coulson (Clark Gregg) because he’s sleeping with the “enemy” “” and I mean literally questioning him. Mack (Henry Simmons) flat out asks Coulson if he and Rosalind (Constance Zimmer) are sleeping together. Coulson has a plan, though. He’s freaking Nick Fury’s protege “” of course he has a plan! He’s putting into effect “Operation Spotlight,” a tactical mission to uncover the truth behind ATCU’s Inhuman involvement. Coulson believes that Rosalind and the ATCU trust him, but he wants to make sure the feeling is mutual, and Daisy (Chloe Bennet) finally gets it: the camera focuses on her, squinting her eyes and opening her mouth slightly, giving a knowing nod.

It’s sexy beach times for May (Ming-Na Wen) and Andrew (Blaire Underwood) “” six months ago, to be exact “” as they reevaluate their relationship, as well as May’s future with S.H.I.E.L.D. Unfortunately, the ex-lovers’ turned possible ex-ex-lovers aren’t able to maintain their blissful reunion for too long. A few days later, back in Andrew’s office, he opens an old book belonging to Jiaying, filled with Inhuman names, and is covered in the Terrigen Mist, quickly turning into stone (and subsequently a stone-faced killer).

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 is in full swing with tensions rising amongst most of the main characters. In the first few episodes, due to ideological differences, we’ve seen Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) verbally clash with his protege, Daisy (Chloe Bennet), over how to deal with the Inhuman crisis. Daisy then tried to coerce her Inhuman pal, Lincoln (Luke Mitchell), over to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s side with an awkward kiss; Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) has joined up with Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) in hopes of infiltrating Grant Ward’s (Brett Dalton) new Hydra group and exacting revenge, only to have Hunter go a bit too far with his initiation; and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) rescued Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) from an alien planet and all Simmons wants to do is go back to the alien planet! What’s in store for the agents this week?
