New Captain America by Stuart Immonen

After revealing a new Thor on ABC’s The View on Tuesday, Marvel Comics had another big reveal to make on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. Marvel Comics Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada joined the show to announce who would be the next Captain America, after Steve Rogers lost his powers in Captain America #21. Sam Wilson a.k.a. The Falcon, Cap’s longtime partner and friend will be taking over the role of Captain America.

Quesada revealed the first image of the new Captain America, which blends the classic costume with The Falcon’s familiar wings. Quesada also presented host Stephen Colbert with a picture of the talk show host as a new replacement Falcon, since Sam Wilson will be otherwise occupied.

Captain America The Avengers

Yesterday we brought you an interesting alternate opening to Marvel Studios’ The Avengers that will appear as an extra on the forthcoming Blu-ray. Today, another deleted scene from the movie has been released online.

You can watch the scene here below.

The scene acts as an alternate introduction to Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), better known to us as Captain America, and prefaces his first scene with S.H.I.E.L.D. honcho Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in the final cut. We see Cap going about his everyday life in the modern world: pining for his lady love Peggy, riding the subway, and flirting with a coffee shop waitress (Ashley Johnson) who was briefly glimpses being saved by Captain America during the final battle with Loki and the Chitauri. This deleted moment also provides us with a brief look at the MetLife building that was replaced digitally in the final film with Stark Tower, which Steve can be seen sketching during his conversation with the waitress, as well as yet another priceless cameo by the Man himself, Stan Lee.
