The LEGO Movie Chinese New Year

In honor of Chinese New Year, the folks behind The LEGO Movie have released a new video specifically for this Year Of The Horse. The holiday greeting features main character Emmett, who is voiced by Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy) in the film based on the LEGO line of toys.

Check out the video here below.

The voice cast for The LEGO Movie includes Chris Pratt as the film’s normal LEGO character, Emmett, and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as Lucy, the female lead who believes that Emmett is the one to fulfill the prophecy that says one will stop the tyrant, President Business (Will Ferrell), from taking over the LEGO World. Other voices include Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman.

The Lego Movie Still Batman and Emmet

We should try to stop looking at Chris Miller and Phil Lord‘s The Lego Movie as something that looks like the most expensive commercial that you would have to pay to see. For one thing the two, who brought us the first Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, brought their signature humor to turn this seemingly large product placement movie into a hysterical stop-motion animated film involving almost a billion Lego pieces and hundreds of Lego characters ranging from the ordinary to extraordinary like Batman, a wizard, Michelangelo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, President Abraham Lincoln, and a cop who can turn from good cop to bad cop simply by switching faces.

We’ve already seen one trailer for the movie, and now a second trailer has arrived. Hit the jump to see it.

The LEGO Movie Image

The first trailer for The LEGO Movie has found its way online, and it…doesn’t look bad. Not bad at all, actually. In fact it actually looks pretty gosh darn awesome.

This really should come as no surprise as the movie is directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the duo who directed the fantastic animated flick Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, but it still is. Because let’s face it, who thought a LEGO movie could work? Of course when you gather a voice cast that includes Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman, anything is possible.

Be sure to click on over to the other side to check out the first trailer for The LEGO Movie.

Warner Bros. logo

Despite being the proud parent company of properties like Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes, Warner Brothers hasn’t put out a full-length animated feature film in a very long time. There are the occasional direct-to-home entertainment releases which features DC Comics’ finest, but for the most part we haven’t seen a true WB animated film in a long time.

Pixar and DreamWorks animation have been the forefront of the animation genre, consistently putting out new films every year. Part of that reason is because of the established brain trust they have created at the dawn of their company’s inception. Together, these respective creative groups methodically have created stories and visions, and devised plans on how they will carry them out. Now WB wants a part of that action, and they have started with a brain trust of their own, which consists of some of the most reputable people in the animation and entertainment industry.

Lego: The Piece of Resistance

It may not be the Justice League movie we’ve been waiting for, but it’s sure as hell close enough to being one. Batman and Superman, two iconic DC comic characters that have been the face of superhero movies, will now be appearing in Warner Bros. upcoming 3D Lego movie, Lego: The Piece of Resistance, which will fuse together live-action and “Lego-based animation.”

The film is to be directed by Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Chris McKay will co-direct.
