FOX doesn’t seem to mind that they cannot play in the Marvel Studios sandbox. As much of a disappointment that is to the fans, there is no denying that the success of the X-Men film franchise has spawned exciting spinoffs like the Wolverine films and the upcoming Deadpool, the latter of which got its own Super Bowl spot tonight.

Now in anticipation for X-Men: Apocalypse summer release, the studio has released a Super Bowl spot for the upcoming X-Men sequel , which you can check out here below.

We’re not likely to see the X-Men join the Avengers anytime soon. But the success of the X-Men film franchise has got Fox to explore other ways to expand on the property. Deadpool and Wolverine already have spinoffs set within the X-Men universe, and now the studio is looking to compete with other Marvel shows like Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with their own Marvel programming.

During the summer TCAs, Fox and Marvel negotiated a deal for two live-action series based on characters from the X-Men. A few months later it was announced that Fargo creator Noah Hawley and Fargo executive producer John Cameron will be behind one spinoff called Legion. And now it looks like the show has found its cast.

According to a new report, Downton Abbey‘s Dan Stevens and Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza will be joining Legion. And a Fargo alum will also be joining the cast as well. More on their characters below.

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse starring James McAvoy (Victor Frankenstein), Michael Fassbender (Macbeth), and Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), all of whom will reprise their roles as Professor X, Magneto, and Mystique, respectively. Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the titular villain. Directed by Bryan Singer, the film marks the end of the First Class Trilogy.

In the film, En Sabah Nur is considered the very first mutant of human civilization. Worshiped as a god, the immortal mutant has a collection of powers that no single mutant can stop. After millennia of slumber, Apocalypse will awaken, disappointed in the state of the world. He recruits four of the most powerful mutants he can find, which includes a demoralized Magneto, to create a new mutant world order. While the titular villain of X-Men: Apocalypse has received some harsh criticism for not looking like his comic book counterpart, fans were still be excited by the fact that the upcoming film, which will end the First Class trilogy, would feature Marvel’s first mutant. We haven’t seen much in terms of footage since San Diego Comic-Con last summer. Maybe that was because everyone was just hyped to see Deadpool, which got a momentous positive reaction by everyone in Hall H.

Now we have a slight idea of when the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse will be released. According to the film’s producer, Simon Kinberg, it will be attached to theatrical showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. More on the story below.

Ryan Reynolds really wants Deadpool to be a hit and launch a new Marvel-based franchise for 20th Century Fox. He’s been trying to get it going for years, and with Tim Miller at the helm of his first feature film, it looks as if the Merc with a Mouth’s long-awaited solo movie will make quite the splash when it hits theaters early next year.

Reynolds took to the streets on Halloween to make a humorous little video and conduct a bit of guerrilla marketing for the upcoming R-rated comic book adventure. Best of all, he did so in full Deadpool costume, and he recruited a precocious group of kids dressed up as the X-Men for All Hallows Eve.
