| ‘The New Mutants’ Reshoots Haven’t Happened Yet; Could Still Aim For An R-Rating
The one X-Men film that seems to have fallen by the wayside is The New Mutants, a spinoff that centers on a different group of mutants who are forced to come to grips with their mutant powers while being held in a secret government facility. The film was supposed to hit theaters earlier this year before being pushed back to February 2019 and then to August 2019. The reasons for those new dates was to give director Josh Boone some extra time for reshoots. However, to push back the film almost two years after the film was originally scheduled to be released seems strange. And to say that the reason for that push was to get some reshoots in seems even odder. But that appears to be the case. The reshoots are pushing the film’s release date to August of next year. But not because the reshoots are happening now. It’s because the reshoots haven’t happened yet. More on the report below.

| ‘Dark Phoenix’ Trailer: The X-Men Go Up Against The Almighty Power Of The Phoenix
Dark Phoenix, the latest installment in the X-Men film franchise, was supposed to be released in November. But the film needed some additional photography and reshoots, and as a result, it pushed the release date to February of next year. Whether or not this was a sign of trouble is unknown. But at least we get to finally see what has become of Simon Kinberg‘s directorial debut. Fox has dropped the first trailer for Dark Phoenix, which is based on the story arc of the same name which sees Jean Grey, one of the most powerful members of the X-Men, fuse with a cosmic entity who has the power to destroy the entire galaxy. Check out the trailer and a new poster below.

| Disney CEO Bob Iger On Fox’s X-Men: “There Shouldn’t Be Two Marvels”
Marvel Comics may share one universe, but when it comes to films, that’s a different story. Sony has their Spider-Man-Less universe, Disney has the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and FOX has X-Men and Fantastic Four. But since Disney acquired Fox earlier this year, for $71 billion, many are hoping things are going to change. And it looks like that may be happening. Just how soon remains to be a question. Disney CEO Bob Iger recently spoke about what the merger could do for their Marvel properties. But one thing is for sure, Iger believes that there should not be “two Marvels.” Check out the story here below.

| ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Not Going Through 3-Month Reshoot, As Rumored
When Fox announced that X-Men: Dark Phoenix would be pushed up from its original November 2018 release to February 2019, most took it as a bad sign. The film, which would mark Simon Kinberg‘s directorial debut, would need some additional photography — meaning, reshoots — after some test screenings, which is part of the entire process to help make improvements for the film. But the new release date was troubling at best. And with much of the cast having already moved on to other things since production ended last year, it would be difficult to get everyone together. Luckily, rumors of a 3-month additional shoot have been exaggerated. More on the story here below.
