GoD List Banner

Each and every week “Heel Heat” MK2Fac3 and “No Show” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of March 28, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

My Henchman is on sabbatical this week, so I’ve decided to go solo. If H21 were here, though, I’m sure he’d ramble on about a variety of comics, but he’s not. So, get over it! But enough of all that! I wanted to address to important items that are on my radar this week. Firstly, it’s the week after my birthday and none of you got me anything! I’m so incredibly disappointed in each and every one of you. I spend my time giving you something entertaining to read and this is how you repay me!? In the words of the legendary The Iron Sheik, “::expletive deleted::!” Goodness gracious alive, folks! Anyway, on to the next item on the docket, it’s Wrestlemania week! Everyone celebrate! YAY! CM Punk is going to beat Chris Jericho and that’s a fact, Jack! Oh yeah, this feature is about comics…. Here’s this week’s The GoD List!

It’s incredibly important that I distinguish myself from the rest of the people that are posting on this very article. I do not want to get lost in the shuffle.

ISSUES:

Avengers vs. X-MenAvengers vs. X-Men #0 (of 12) (Marvel Comics – $3.99): So begins the event of the summer: The Avengers v. The X-Men. Now, this is not exactly what it sounds like, no. This is not a weekly update of the ongoing court case where The Avengers took civil action against the X-Men for sole custody of Wolverine. Instead, this comic book shows an all out battle between the two largest and most important teams under the Marvel Comics banner. The implications and causes of the events of this comic could truly change the landscape of Marvel Comics for the foreseeable future. This story will undoubtedly cross over with several other titles, but all we can do is hope that we’ll be able to follow the story from the main comic title. It’s being created by some of the top names in comics, and as surprising as it is to me, and probably to some of you, I’m very excited about this comic. DC Comics have been interesting me less and less recently, and Marvel’s offering something special in the wake of DC big relaunch last year. Hopefully this comic will be easy enough to follow, but either way, I’ll be along for the ride. And all starts with Avengers vs. X-Men #0.

Daredevil #10 (Marvel Comics – $2.99): Mark Waid’s run on Daredevil has been one of the most consistently great comics coming out over the past few months in both writing and artistic quality. And with a week that doesn’t really seem to be offering a lot to choose from, Daredevil should definitely be on your pull lists. The lighter take on the character has been dwindling in recent issues, but it’s still a far cry from previous incarnations. The comic is easily one of my most anticipated books each month, and with the main event being Avengers vs. X-Men, it will be interesting to see if and how a character like Daredevil that has no real affiliation will fit in will all of the excitement.

The New Deadwardians #1 (of 8) (Vertigo Comics – $2.99): It’s a Vertigo #1, how could it not make it on to this list? Beyond that, though, this comic sounds completely and utterly insanely awesome. It’s post-Victorian England and all of the higher class have voluntarily been turned to zombies because all of the lower class are zombies. Seriously. It’s like Downton Abbey with vampires and zombies, and even with the over-population of zombies and vampires in comics now, this is something that I absolutely want to read. So, will it be any good? Well, Dan Abnett, who is hit or miss for me, is writing the comic and then there’s the new I. N. J. Culbard, who will be providing the clearly strange and fun art, so at this point it’s hard for me to say, “Yes, I will most certainly like this comic,” or the more oft used expression, “Get this horrible garbage out of my face!” I’m not sure what to expect out of this comic, but if the quality is either as good or fun as the concept, I’m sure I’ll end up buying each of these issues.

COLLECTION:

Dark Shadows Vol. 1 TP (Dynamite Entertainment – $16.99): I read the first issue of this series a few months back, and I really liked what I saw. Why didn’t I read further? Well, most of the time with smaller titles, I have to order the comics in advance because if I don’t, I’m not guaranteed a copy due to circumstances like selling out at the store level, low orders because nobody’s buying the comics, or just shortages from Diamond Distributors. I did however make a vow that I enjoyed this revamp of the classic horror television series enough that I would be buying the collected editions. Now, if you’ve seen the trailer for the Tim Burton adaptation of the television series and you’re a little upset at the less than faithful take on the series, then this comic is what you should be checking out. It’s a modern style comic book story telling set in the classic haunting world of the original Dark Shadows environment. If you’re a fan of the series or horror, in general, you should definitely check out this comic book.

OTHER COMICS TO WHICH YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION:

Since you have the honor of only witnessing my skills, I’ll let you in on a few more comics that you should be checking out this week in list form with no descriptions!

All Star Western #7
B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth: Pickens County Horror #1
Choker #6
The Flash #7
Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #4
I, Vampire #7
Justice League Dark #7
Morning Glories #17 (I have no idea if this is actually coming out, but if it is, you MUST get it!)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #8
The Walking Dead #95

And that’s about it! So, go to your local comic shop or tablet and make sure to pick up some great comics that are coming out this week!
