Remember John Candy With Tribute Video ‘Tell Me About John’

John Candy

It’s already been 21 years since John Candy, star of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Spaceballs, Cool Runnings, and so much more, passed away in 1994 at the age of 43. If he were still alive today he’d be 65 years old, still too young to find out what awaits us after our time here on Earth—but unfortunately he left us far too soon many, many years ago.

Though I was still young when he died, Candy and his work were such a large part of my childhood that I still think of him from time to time and of course still enjoy his movies to this day. And, thanks to movies like Home Alone that are watched during the holidays every single year, younger people who might not have known who he was see him and might just seek out his other works because of it. The man lives on.

A tribute to John Candy was released recently titled Tell Me About John, which is composed of various clips of his work and recollections from those he had worked with. You can watch it below.

Crytek's The Climb

Motion gaming was all set to be the next big thing a while back. But instead of getting the kinds of games we thought we were going to get, most of what we got was, well…crap, to put it bluntly, and it never took off like it was supposed to.

Now the NEXT big thing fast approaches: virtual reality! For years we’ve been seeing cool tech demos and videos of YouTube of people enjoying VR such as the Oculus Rift in various ways, but soon we’ll be seeing it go mainstream, with games developed solely for VR play. One such title is called The Climb, and it comes from developer Crytek, makers of the original Far Cry, the Crysis series, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Warface.

You can read more about the game and watch the first trailer below.

License to Quill by Jacopo della Quercia banner

License to Quill
Paperback | Kindle Edition
by Jacopo della Quercia
St. Martin’s Griffin | Macmillan
Release date: December 15th, 2015

History says that Christopher Marlowe, a playwright who influenced William Shakespeare, was stabbed to death while embroiled in legal trouble, over words that may or may not have been his. But what if that was an act? What if this was the 16th Century version of the witness protection program? William Shakespeare takes over for that influential bard, and finds himself mixed up in The Gunpowder Plot (a group tried to assassinate King James, the King of England, Scotland, and Ireland). Guy Fawkes commissions him to write a play about “the abuse of power” set in Scotland, to rile things up a bit.

License to Quill by Jacopo della Quercia takes you through an exciting historical mystery – one in which you expect Shakespeare to utter, “Shaken… not stirred.”

More below.
