Marvel Comics Reveals All-Female Avengers Team ‘A-Force’

A-Force Banner

In what should be the first of many new series to come out of Marvel Comics upcoming Secret Wars event, Marvel has revealed a new team of Avengers unlike any Avengers team that has come before. A-Force is the name of the new series, and it will be the first team of Avengers comprised entirely of heroines, with the likes of She-Hulk, Medusa, Dazzler, and more.

Written by G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel) and Marguerite K. Bennett (Angela: Asgards Assassin), with art by Jorge Molina (X-Men), A-Force launches in May along with the rest of Secret Wars. There aren’t a lot of details about this title yet, on account of it being so closely tied into Secret Wars, so it’s hard to say what the series is actually about, beyond the all-female hook.

So Long New 52! DC Comics Announces 24 New Titles
space

DC Comics JLA by Bryan Hitch banner

When DC Comics launched what they called “the New 52” back in 2011, their plan was to publish 52 ongoing series on a monthly basis, while tightening up their shared universe and updating it for modern readers. The plan largely worked at first, at least in terms of getting readers back and excited to read DC comics.

Today, DC has altered that plan, announcing that they will be reducing their number of releases to 49, with 24 new or rebranded titles on the way that will be replacing some of their current ones, while keeping 25 existing series. There will also be some changes to creative teams on some of these books.

See below for all the details from DC’s announcement about the post-New 52 slate, including the full list and creative team for all 49 titles, as well as some new artwork.

The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Go Patriots!” Henchman 21 and “What trailers are they showing?” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of January 28, 2015. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh sweet, sweet nectar. These are the weeks that make me love comics oh so much. As I was putting together this list each week, I usually start with a general idea of what books I want to talk about and how many I’ll be writing about on any given week. This week I thought I knew what I was going to write about, but then new books jumped off the release list and demanded that I recommend them to you, and the list just kept getting bigger. There is just such a metric crap load of great books coming out this week that I just can’t wait to tell you about so let’s just get to it and an over-sized The GoD List!

Marvel Ends The Universe With ‘Secret Wars’

Henchman21   |  @   |

Marvel Secret Wars

Marvel Comics announced last week that there are big changes coming to their world, with some of the first details about the upcoming Secret Wars #1, launching in May 2015. The 8-issue Secret Wars mini-series, which will be written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Esad Ribic, will officially start with a special #0 issue that will be released on Free Comic Book Day this year.

Secret Wars is the storyline that Hickman has been building to since he took over on Avengers and New Avengers back in 2012. The series starts with the merging of the regular Marvel universe and the Ultimate universe in what Hickman has been calling an “incursion.” This incursion has been getting foreshadowed for a while and will lead into the rest of the series, where the combined universe will become Battleworld, which is a call back to the original Secret Wars series from back in the 1980s.

The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Secret Wars!” Henchman 21 and “Secret Wars II!” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of January 21, 2015. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Yes, I know you’re all upset about the Marvel Universe ending or whatever, but you know what? Comics will go on, which is why we’re here to direct you to a bunch of comic books that are out this week that will continue to exist after any reboot or universe-ending cataclysm or what have you. Comics are great, whether they be spandex-fueled fantasy or realistic looks at the lives of actual people. Comics can be used to tell any kind of story you want, and if you’re feeling blue about a certain kind of comic not being to your liking, use this week to try something different. And that’s what we have to suggest to you on The GoD List!
