DC ReRelaunch: DC Comics Announces ‘New New 52’

DC Re-Relaunch banner

In a desperate attempt that’s sure to surprise everyone in the comic book community, DC Comics is planning a RE-relaunch of their entire line of comic books to boost sales and appeal to new readers with The New New 52.

The breaking news came not at this weekend’s popular Northwest convention Emerald City Comic Con, which DC decided to skip altogether, but rather from flyers handed out by costumed superheroes today, April 1, 2012, at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, NJ, to confused attendees of the Tony Robbins Unleash The Power Within seminar.

And I’ve got to say that I’m utterly shocked by this recent turn events. Yes, it seems that the sales that were being reported on DC’s recent relaunch on their entire line of comics was not as spectacular as we all thought, as they’re going back to the well one more time and introducing a new line up of comics, and you may be surprised by the results as the comic titles released are not what any of us would have expected to see. In fact, most of the superhero comics are long gone and replaced with several unknown titles that are made to appeal to separate groups of the non-comics reading public. Sure, the mainstays are here, but that’s about it. So, are you ready to check out the new list that will be debuting in July? I hope you’re sitting down.

Beware The Batman Header

On Wednesday, Cartoon Network officially announced the arrival of Beware The Batman, a CG-animated show to air later this year.

Alongside the sad passing away of Batman: The Brave and The Bold, rumblings began to arise of a CG-animated Batman show coming to fill the animated Batman void that was left as a result of Brave and The Bold‘s cancellation. Rumors arose during the Brave and The Bold panel from San Diego Comic Con a couple of years ago; the news was out that the all ages Batman cartoon would be coming to an end and while some of the crew would be moving on to other projects, it was subtly announced that others would be working on a brand new, darker Batman series. In fact, in Brave and The Bold‘s finale episode, this talk was teased and mocked during Bat-Mite’s desire to see a darker take on the character. Rumors were confirmed when a short teaser trailer was released around the announcement of Cartoon Network and DC Entertainment’s DC Nation cartoon block on the network.

GoD List Banner

Each and every week “Heel Heat” MK2Fac3 and “No Show” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of March 28, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

My Henchman is on sabbatical this week, so I’ve decided to go solo. If H21 were here, though, I’m sure he’d ramble on about a variety of comics, but he’s not. So, get over it! But enough of all that! I wanted to address to important items that are on my radar this week. Firstly, it’s the week after my birthday and none of you got me anything! I’m so incredibly disappointed in each and every one of you. I spend my time giving you something entertaining to read and this is how you repay me!? In the words of the legendary The Iron Sheik, “::expletive deleted::!” Goodness gracious alive, folks! Anyway, on to the next item on the docket, it’s Wrestlemania week! Everyone celebrate! YAY! CM Punk is going to beat Chris Jericho and that’s a fact, Jack! Oh yeah, this feature is about comics…. Here’s this week’s The GoD List!

Judge Dredd

IDW Publishing announced on Wednesday that, in conjunction with England’s 2000 A.D., they will be bringing a brand new Judge Dredd series to American soil this Fall.

It’s a good year for Judge Dredd fans as 2012 marks the 35 anniversary of the character, as well as his return to the big screen starring Star Trek‘s Karl Urban as the Mega-City One lawman. But what comic book fans care about now is the return of the comic book series. Americans will be able to witness the tough as nails, overly forceful lawman in his own series for the first time in 18 years.
