Well, that didn’t take very long. When HBO announced that they had canceled their untitled Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts, it was revealed that other spinoffs were still in the works and that one had already been given the greenlight. Now it has been revealed at a press event at Warner Bros. Studios that the project is titled House of the Dragon, another Game of Thrones prequel, and that it will be available on the upcoming HBO Max streaming service, which launches in 2020. Fans of Greg Berlanti‘s Arrowverse should be especially excited by the news that is coming out of the HBO Max press event. The showrunner who is behind hit CW DC shows like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman will now be working on two new DC shows that will be available for streaming exclusively on HBO Max. It’s been announced that Berlanti will be developing Green Lantern and Strange Adventures series, which will be among the many new titles featured on the streaming service. More on the report below.

HBO had hoped they could continue the success of Game of Thrones by following it up with a prequel series set during “Age of Heroes” and the first ever battle between man and White Walker. Jane Goldman wrote the pilot, which was filmed this past summer. And while everything looked like it was on its way to a full series order, this latest news says otherwise. Disney+ has released the second trailer for the highly anticipated and very ambitious The Mandalorian. Set five years after the events of The Return of the Jedi and twenty-five years before The Force Awakens, the series centers on a nameless gunfighter who is trying to survive in the era of the new republic by heading to the outer rim of space.
