The Dark Net
Hardcover | Kindle
By Benjamin Percy
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Release date: August 1, 2017

Dark magic has infiltrated the Dark Net. Which makes sense… since technology has brought forth progress, so has the power to bring forth destruction and chaos. The Dark Net is where criminals can flourish, conduct business, and satisfy their depravity. But now it is also a place where demons can possess you. A 12-year-old blind girl is the only person who can save Portland and the world from a virus that can cause one to kill and maim in a rage, just by looking at their screen, an action done by most 20-30 times a day. The girl, with her Luddite aunt, a man on the supernatural “spectrum” who can come back to life, a couple of hackers, and a dog are the only ones standing between the demons and the apocalypse.

An enemy that has been looming over them since the start of Daredevil. With The Defenders is set to debut this weekend on Netflix, the streaming service has released a brand new featurette that will surely help fans and audiences get themselves hyped for the highly anticipated miniseries. Bruce Campbell Book Signing Cover

Last week, I got a chance to interview Bruce Campbell over the phone. Amongst our topics of conversation were his new memoir, Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B-Movie Actor, a sequel to his 2002 book, If Chins Could Kill, and his upcoming 35-city book tour. Well, yesterday in New Jersey the tour commenced, and I was there with my son to meet the man, the chin, the legend, Bruce Campbell and get my copy of his book. The book signing took place at Bookends, located at 211 E. Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood, New Jersey.

In my world, as I’m sure it is in yours, when someone drops an LOL into a text or tweet, it is often because they have nothing else to say and want to let you know they saw it. In Sh*t My President Says: The Illustrated Tweets Of Donald J. Trump, however, I absolutely laughed out loud. Maybe it was the tweets or maybe it was the hilarious illustrations from author Shannon Wheeler. But whatever it was, it had me in stitches.

TV Review: Preacher 2.9 “Puzzle Piece”

Preacher 209-09

Preacher
Episode 2.9 “Puzzle Piece”
Directed by Michael Dowse
Written by Craig Rosenberg
Created by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen
Starring Dominic Cooper, Joe Gilgun, Ruth Negga, Graham McTavish, Tom Brooke, Ian Colletti, Julie Ann Emery
AMC
Air date: Monday, August 14th, 2017, 9pm

Last week on AMC’s Preacher, our three heroes continued to grow apart from one another and fall deeper into individual downward spirals. Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) is short 1% of his soul after using it to dispatch The Saint of Killers (Graham McTavish), and that has him ignorant to the obvious needs of those closest to him, his focus on finding God turning into obsession. Tulip (Ruth Negga) is dealing with PTSD after her near death experience at the hands of the Saint, and her guard is lowered so much that when face to face with Lara Featherstone (Julie Ann Emery) of The Grail, she makes friends. Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) is tortured the harshest, perhaps. A vampire, who knows all too well the horrors of eternal life, is suffering through the choice of whether to save his dying son Denis (Ronald Guttman) with a bite, or let him die naturally. Tonight, with the three of them divided, The Grail moves into position to take out Jesse and Genesis.

Check out my review of Preacher below.
