| ‘Die Hard 5’ & Bruce Willis Find Their Director In Noam Murro |
 |

It’s been no secret since the release of Live Free or Die Hard, the fourth installment in the franchise, that star Bruce Willis was planning on making more at some point in the future. Movement has been speeding up lately on what’s simply being called Die Hard 5 at the moment, and now the flick’s director has been chosen by 20th Century Fox and Willis. Deadline is reporting that Noam Murro will be taking the wheel on the project, which could become his third feature film. Murro has only one completed credit to his name — 2008’s Smart People, which starred Ellen Page, Dennis Quaid, Thomas Hayden Church, and Sarah Jessica Parker — and has another currently in production called Hateship, Friendship, Courtship. These aren’t the credits of someone you would see directing a Die Hard movie, but these movies are also not what stood out to those who hired Murro — it was his work on some popular live-action Halo shorts made for the release of Halo: Reach that caught eyes and won him the job. You can see the videos below if you missed them.

| ‘Red’: Top 3 Differences Between The Comic Book And The Movie |
 |
In honor of the new Bruce Willis movie Red, which was released in theaters this past weekend, I recently went back to read the DC comic book series Red created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, from which the film was adapted.
Both the comic book and the movie center around Frank Moses (Willis’s character), a retired CIA agent who’s thrust back into the world of danger when he’s attacked by highly trained unknown assailants. The over-the-hill action-comedy film brought out the older generations to the theater in droves, thanks to the change in the story’s overall tone (from serious to light-hearted), as well as (in my opinion) the creation of Helen Mirren‘s character Victoria, another retiree whose sexy looks and stellar aim with a sniper rifle probably make her the most lethal of the bunch. There were quite a few differences between the movie and the 3-issue miniseries, mostly in the addition of new characters — played by Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Brian Cox — as well as alternations to the Frank Moses character and his situation, along with plenty of deviations from the original story. Here’s the Top 3 differences between the film and the comic book.

| SDCC 2010: Action Stars Assemble At ‘The Expendables’ Panel |
 |

A panel for Sylvester Stallone‘s action overdrive movie, The Expendables was held early on at Comic Con 2010. This is one of the movies that you’ve likely seen a ton of times via TV spots and trailers that have been released over the past few months. The Expendables brings together a who’s who of action stars in an attempt to reclaim the beauty and brutality that were the action films of the ’80s, and nothing could sound more exciting.
The panel — moderated by Ain’t It Cools’ own head geek, Harry Knowles — featured Stallone, who wrote, directed, and starred in the movie. He was joined by Terry Crews, who offered up a little Old Spice P-P-P-P-P-P-POWER! by ripping his shirt open when he came out, Dolph Lundgren, UFC legend Randy Couture, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Bruce Willis, who peeked in for a few minutes having been there already for the RED panel. A cameo by a cameo actor — how perfectly fitting. Because the movie has been known for so long, not a lot needed to be said. The panel was really just a chance to get an awesome collection of action stars out there to chat a bit about the movie, making it, and other things.
