Recent Captain America: Civil War promotional images revealed Iron Man and Captain America’s respective teams. Footage shown at D23 Expo also gave us a look at who is siding with who. However, the teams shown in the footage and the promotional images each tell a very different story.

One key member is missing from Captain America’s squad. Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda aka Scarlet Witch in the film, says that her character doesn’t really side with any one faction, and calls the Avenger a “wild card.” More on this story below.

Captain America: Civil War

Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War is currently the only Phase 3 film in production. With others expected to shoot later in the year, the film was the only one who was able to show some footage at the D23 Expo, in Anaheim, California on Saturday. Before any footage was shown, Kevin Feige revealed that the Russo Brothers are currently filming in Germany with one week of production left. Of course they couldn’t go into great detail about it, because who wants to hear Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans talk (both of whom were also present for the Marvel panel) about a film, when they can show footage for everyone to get excited about.

Check out our description of the footage below.

Ava DuVernay Black Panther

Ava DuVernay‘s stunning work on Selma put her as one of the frontrunners to direct Black Panther. Though there was some initial excitement on the possibility, DuVernay ultimately walked away from the job, citing creative differences as the reason. “Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me,” said DuVernay.

As we have all seen before with Patty Jenkins, Edgar Wright, Alan Taylor, and Joss Whedon, all had to work under the Marvel guidelines, connecting their work to the collective Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not really an easy job when you want to maintain your creative input, while being pressured to be part of a universe you may not be as concerned with.

More on why DuVernay turned down the job below.

Martin Freeman

Of all the roles in Captain America: Civil War, the one that is still unknown to many belongs to Martin Freeman. We know that Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, and Frank Grillo will all reprise their respective Marvel Cinematic Universe roles, while William Hurt will return as General Thunderbolt Ross, his role from The Incredible Hulk. The film also marks the cinematic debut of Chadwick Boseman, who will play T’Challa aka Black Panther; and Daniel Brühl, who is also in the film, says he is playing Baron Zemo, although that has yet to be confirmed.

Though we will eventually find out about Freeman’s role, there were rumors that the Sherlock star could be playing a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent or some international diplomat. Now in a new interview, the actor teases his character in the highly anticipated film. More on this below.
