| Lionsgate Apologizes For Whitewashed ‘Gods Of Egypt’ Oversight
By now, in 2015, you’d think that studios would have caught on to the idea that they would want to cast a film like Gods of Egypt with actors who are, I don’t know, Egyptian. Just so that the actors can properly reflect the ethnicity of that time period. But after seeing the first posters and trailer for the film, it’s no surprise that there was an uproar over the idea that headlining star Gerard Butler could even pass as a Egyptian. Let’s not forget that Nikola Coster-Waldau and Brenton Thwaites, who also star in this film, are both white as well. As confusing as this may sound, the film still got made, and with the all the vitriol it’s already been getting with just the first trailer and posters alone because it is so whitewashed, director Alex Proyas and Lionsgate have come out to apologize for it. See what they had to say below.

| ‘Gods Of Egypt’ Trailer: Humans Against CGI Ancient Egypt Backdrop
Aesthetically, the first set of posters for Alex Proyas‘s Gods of Egypt did not look good, and obviously that should not be a representation of the film itself. Often times, it is though. But we should never let the look of posters cloud our judgement, even if this is a pretty white-washed film. But holding out on the hopes that the film may be actually entertaining seems like a futile effort, especially since the look and feel of this new trailer gives off a wretched whiff of horribly bad CGI backdrops, with equally bad CG effects and even worse CG characters. Check out the full trailer for Gods of Egypt below.

| Rumor: ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer Attached To ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
It’s been a few months since we saw the footage of Captain America: Civil War at the D23 Expo. At the time there was only about a week’s worth of shooting left before the sequel was completed. Much of what we saw looked pretty polished, and could have been condensed and cut for a trailer. But nothing has been released since then. One might suspect that they would attach the first trailer to a tentpole film, which would make sense since September and October aren’t known for blockbuster films. While there have been rumors that the Civil War trailer would be attached to Spectre, which is in U.K. theaters now but drops in North America next week, there is another one that says it will be attached to none other than Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Because, you know, both Marvel and Lucasfilm are owned by Disney. More on this story below.

| Joe Robert Cole To Write ‘Black Panther’ For Marvel; F. Gary Gray Among Director Candidates
Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off with Captain America: Civil War. The film will end the Captain America trilogy, but it will also introduce the Spider-Man and Black Panther characters to the MCU. Chadwick Boseman will play the Prince of Wakanda, who seems to have his own agenda in Black Panther. We don’t know how exactly his presence will affect the MCU has a whole, but at least we know who will be writing his solo feature. A new report says that Marvel has hired Joe Robert Cole (FX’s American Crime Story) to pen the script. There are also other reports saying that the studio is eyeing F. Gary Gray to direct the film. More on the story below.
