I’m going to just skip the BS and tell you that a lot of great comics are coming out this week, folks. We’ve got all sorts of great single issues and collected editions that are coming out of the woodwork to get you all twisted into a much more awesome and better-looking version that you were before. I don’t know how that’s possible, but I’m pretty sure that it’s what’s going to happen. Anyway, like I said, there are so many good books this week. We’ve got some awesome stuff coming in Dark Horse Presents, hopefully a good starting point for Animal Man, the second part of Superman’s origin in Action Comics, the newest issue of “The Best Comic In The World” Locke and Key, the second issue in what could be the best new comic of the year in Fatale, another strong candidate for comic of the year with Winter Soldier, and even more in single issues, you guys. That’s not even touching the collected editions, but we’ll get to that later. The collective “HenchFac3” attempts to bring you the knowledge of the latest and greatest comic books that are being released each and every week. Now, unfortunately, the situation does not always play out in the manner in which we have anticipated. Sometimes, we pick absolute flops. Sometimes we pick books that don’t even ship that week. And sometimes, we pick the same comic every month. We’re not theoretical physicists, and as much as MK2Fac3 wants you to believe that he’s Batman, he’s totally not. He cannot prepare for any and all eventualities. But more often than not, we pick some really good books. And while our track record does not garner us a perfect score, I think that if you pick up this week’s books, you’ll be more than impressed with our choices. It’s that time of year, boys and girls! It’s Thanksgiving! A time when pumpkins are on porches, there’s a nip in the air, and witches are on broomsticks! No wait, that’s not it. It’s the time of year when psychotic bunny rabbits rise from the dead to hide plastic eggs in your yard with chocolate in a basket or your doorsteps! No, that’s not it, either. It’s the time of year when you get Christmas presents and make snow angels! Crap, why can’t I get this right!? One last shot, it’s that time of year when you get your significant other a box of chocolates! CURSE WORD! Screw it, it’s Wednesday and comics are out, and this is what we’re freaking looking forward to, bros. And we gotta tell ya, there’s a large amount of super collections, so get on it, and take your wallet. You might even need to sell a kidney because that’s what I’m doing. I’m typing this from a bathtub full of ice! Somebody please send a doctor. I’m scared.

Every week of the year, new comic books hit store shelves and digital store fronts. Some of those comics have been going on for a while, and some of them haven’t. One of the comics that has, however, is Locke and Key. Written by Joe Hill with art by Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke and Key is probably my favorite comic being published today. But the only problem with the comic having gone on for as long as it has is that, well, it’s not very friendly to new readers. And even those readers who’ve been there since day one might get a little off track by the different parts of the Locke and Key mythology. And oh my goodness! There are so many keys! How can we decipher between them!?

Well friends, IDW Publishing has got you covered. This Wednesday, IDW and Locke and Key will be releasing a one-shot comic entitled Locke and Key: Guide To The Known Keys.

In this second issue of Star Trek Legion of Super-Heroes, the story is primarily the characters figuring out just WHAT is wrong with their situations. While the first issue was mostly setting up the characters — who they were, where they come from, what there motivation is — this issue delves deeper into the story about just why things are the was they are.

Writer Chris Roberson does a fantastic job on characterization again in this issue. I’m a bigger Star Trek fan than Legion fan, but he doesn’t make the Legion characters seem at all foreign to me. He moves the story along at a good pace, lots of action, lots of reveals, and manages to make the whole thing NOT boring like so many crossover comics are. This is not a “wait for them to fight” book, it tells a valid story that is completely believable in both universes.
