Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation Header

There’s no denying that Tom Cruise is one of the biggest movies stars ever to walk this little planet we all call home. But what separates him from most other big stars out there is his willingness to take on many of the unbelievable stunts required of the role that he’s playing all by himself.

Many of these wild and crazy stunts have been done in his time playing Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible movie franchise. We saw the biggest of them in 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, in which Cruise actually dangled off the side of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It was the biggest he’s ever performed, that is. But not anymore. When Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is released on July 31st, that stunt will be surpassed in a big way when moviegoers watch Cruise hanging from the side of a freakin’ airplane as it takes off.

We’ve seen a preview of the stunt in trailers for the movie, and now a new video has been released offering a behind the scenes peek at Cruise being strapped to the side of the plane and hanging on for dear life as it takes off. You can check it out below.

Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation Header

Paramount has released the first TV spot for Mission: Impossible 5 or as it’s now newly titled Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, starring Tom Cruise, on this quiet Sunday morning. Ever since the film moved up five months from its December release to a safer July one, far away from the juggernaut that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans have been eagerly waiting for a glimpse of what director Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) has in store for them.

The ad runs at a minute long, and debuted before the release of the full trailer, which drops Monday. We actually get a good deal of info about the plot, as well as some exciting footage of the action in 60 seconds. Hit the jump to check out to see TV spot.

Mission Impossible

Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol had franchise star Tom Cruise dangling 1,700 feet off the ground of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. In the next installment, Mission: Impossible 5, the action star will be clinging to a plane, which according to reports, was 5,000 feet in the air. And yes, all these stunts were performed by the 52-year-old actor.

But if he’s going to be doing all these death-defying stunts, then he’s got to be seen doing it in the right way.

Paramount has just announced that Mission: Impossible 5 will be released in IMAX – no 3D, so you can breath easier. Hit the jump for more.

Most Anticipated Films of 2015 - Avengers: Age Of Ultron Ultron

Every year, thousands of movies hit theater screens around the world and I’m usually only able to catch a handful during their entire theatrical run. Therefore, I have to be pretty damn selective when it comes to what I choose to spend that precious Fandango gift card I received for Christmas on to see. With that in mind, I have assembled a list of the 20 films that are most likely to chip away at the obsidian monolith that is my movie ticket budget.

As you may have already noticed, I took the subheading of this article from a quote often attributed to Terminator 2: Judgment Day: “The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.” I suppose that’s my pretentious way of suggesting that one or more of the films on this list could turn out to be complete wastes of time, but we won’t know for sure until they’re released theatrically in the coming months.

Also, the release dates noted in the article are correct as of press time, but are subject to change.

Sean Harris in talks to join Mission Impossible 5

Tom Cruise is already shooting Mission: Impossible 5, but its director, Christopher McQuarrie, has yet to find the film’s antagonist. While little is known about the plot, we are learning that Paramount has offered the role of the villain to Sean Harris, according to Deadline.

He may not have the household name status yet, but you have probably seen him in Prometheus, The Borgias, 24 Hour Party People, and Red Riding Trilogy.
