“We’re protecting the country’s greatest secrets”¦ The problem with these secrets is many of them are wrapped in conspiracy, and nothing tickles curiosity like mystery…” – General Groves, The Manhattan Projects #1 The idea of a book about an underground government agency that knows all of the world’s darkest secrets really intrigued me. I’ve always been a big fan of all the different UFO and government conspiracy stories and frankly still keep my eyes peeled for Big Foot anytime I’m anywhere near woods, so The Manhattan Projects #1 was seemingly written for me. Michael Schenker was becoming a rock star at an age when most of us are still trying to figure out what we want to do with our lives. The German guitarist was barely into his teens when he joined his older brother Rudolf’s band the Scorpions. He quickly joined British rock institution UFO before putting together his own band, the Michael Schenker Group.

A major change from the majority of the previous comics, this issue explores some of the wonders and background of the multiverse as envisioned by Michael Moorcock. We get to explore the different planes and concepts of inter-dimensional travel as seen by our heroes on the sentient ship Spammer Gain. Focusing mainly on information, this month we are given a tutorial on the different ways to travel between the worlds and the types of people able to do so.
