Last week, may have been hard for some feminists to bear. Jaime (Sam Heughan) rescued Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) at literally the point of no return (as far as rape goes). It wasn’t the almost rape that feminists would object to (although bad – yes). It was the spanking – and not the fun kind. Claire had been trying to return to the 1940s after seeing the stones of Craigh na Dun in the distance. She heard Frank (also Tobias Menzies) and he heard her through time, but she got captured. Jaime rescued her at the expense of danger to his men, after she deliberately disobeyed an order. They had a screaming fight, which was resolved, but he had to beat her with a belt on the ass. It was expected in his culture. She froze him out of bed in anger for a while. He loves her so much, he swore a blood oath he would never hurt her like that again. The last scene of that episode was equivalent to soft porn, but they did make up.

Last year, WB announced their massive DC film slate. This was a very early look at what the studio would be releasing, as no directors were attached to any of the films. So far Michelle MacLaren has been confirmed to write and direct Wonder Woman. Chris Miller and Phil Lord have just been confirmed to write The Flash, with talks of making an offer to direct as well. But as to who will be directing Green Lantern and Shazam, that is unknown. Now we may have an idea as to who will be directing Aquaman. Unconfirmed reports are suggesting that WB is eying James Wan as a possibility to direct Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa (check out a first look at the actor in costume here). Hit the jump for more.

| Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ Movie On Fast Track At Sony
Sony Pictures has found what they hope will become their next big franchise, and it’s one that other movie studios have tried to take on in the past before ultimately passing on. According to reports, Sony is teaming with Media Rights Capital to co-finance an adaptation of Stephen King‘s book series The Dark Tower, and they want to fast-track the production. Universal was the first studio to try to adapt the books along with NBC Universal Television back in 2010 in what was going to be a trilogy of movies and a companion TV series with Ron Howard directing and Akiva Goldsman writing the first movie and first season of the show. It was so ambitious it was unbelievable, which is why it wasn’t all that shocking—just disappointing—when Universal dropped it. Then in 2012 Warner Brothers looked close to adapting the books, but they too decided it wouldn’t be worth it.

It’s a bit hard to remember that there is going to be a film based on The Flash, especially since the hit TV show is running around and giving the CW huge rating. But The Flash is coming, and it stars Ezra Miller. We still don’t know what iteration of the character the actor will be playing. With the studio hard at work getting the ball rolling on the other DC films — Green Lantern, Shazam, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and more — it has just been announced that The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been hired to write a draft.
