| ‘Justice League’: Danny Elfman To Compose Score
Now that Joss Whedon has taken on the responsibility of completing production on Justice League in time for its release this fall following Zack Snyder‘s departure from the movie due to a death in his family, he has brought on the always amazing Danny Elfman to compose the score for the much-anticipated DC Films blockbuster. The hiring of Elfman comes just as Whedon is about to commence with the filming of additional scenes in London. Obviously this isn’t Elfman’s first time creating original music for a big-budget superhero movie; his score for Tim Burton’s first Batman in 1989 captured the film’s madness, melancholy, adventure, and Gothic atmosphere perfectly and continues to influence composers to this day. He also created the themes for the first TV series of The Flash, which aired for one season from 1990-1991, and Batman: The Animated Series.

| Michael Giacchino Tweets Familiar Snippet From His ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Score
Michael Giacchino is, without a doubt in my mind, one of the best composers for film and television working today. Last year alone saw him apply his inventive musical chops to the popular blockbuster hits Doctor Strange and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Well the man is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer as he is providing the score for the much-anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming. As a little treat to close out this unadulterated whirlwind of a week on the planet Earth, Giacchino has released a brief snippet from his Homecoming soundtrack, which he recently completed. Longtime fans of Marvel Comics’ friendly neighborhood superhero will very likely recognize this upbeat number. Check it out below.

Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The trailer was shown during tonight’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and it is just as funny and exciting as you would expect (maybe more). You can check it out here below. In previous trailers director James Gunn has purposely held back revealing too much of the film’s story, instead focusing on our heroes’ bickering in the heat of battle. There were weird space beasts, dazzling battles, and Rocket Raccoon trying to keep Baby Groot from activating an atomic bomb. Priceless stuff, but fans have long clamored for more Guardians goodness. Tonight we got it, and then some.

Release Date: September 14, 2016 Midichlorians. The Trade Federation. Watto. The coarseness of sand. Jar-Jar freakin’ Binks. Oh, and you can’t forget”¦. “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!” George Lucas‘ Star Wars prequels comprise what is possibly the most controversial motion picture trilogy of all time. Despite grossing hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office and selling countless DVD and Blu-ray copies, Episodes I through III remain a serious bone of contention for ferociously devoted fans of the Star Wars universe for many reasons. Bradley Weatherholt‘s Indiegogo-funded documentary The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey provides — through a series of insightful and provocative interviews with open-minded admirers of the films and their thematic elements and links to the original trilogy –- a pointed critical analysis of the prequel trilogy’s multitude of perceived narrative and technical flaws. Rather than serve as the set-up for a rude, feature-length rebuttal of the faults that have fueled many a furious blog post or chatroom discussion, detractors of these unjustly-derided intergalactic adventures to look at those faults once more, but placed in different contexts and interpreted through a series of unbiased points-of-view.
