| The Difference Between Good and Bad “Jump Scares” In Movies (Video) |

Horror fans can usually tell whether they’ll dislike an upcoming movie just based on how many CGI ghosts, monsters, demons, and various other nasty things pull what’s known as a “jump scare” in the trailers. Jump scares often occur when those making the film aren’t so good at building tension and using sounds, settings, and the viewer’s own imagination to create terrifying moments and situations, and so they instead have things jump out and BOO! you accompanied by loud noises in hopes of jump starting your fear. Movies like this are usually like a really long version of that video with an unexpected screaming face you were tricked (or tricked someone else) into watching. But this isn’t always the case. In fact, there are different ways to pull off the infamous jump scare, and sometimes it can actually work really well. YouTube channel Now You See It has released a new video, which can be viewed below, called “Why Jump Scares Suck.” The video takes a closer look at the jump scare with examples of both the right and wrong ways to use them.

You can check it out below.

| Seth Rogen Pranks Grocery Store Shoppers With Talking Food For ‘Sausage Party’ (Video)
The R-rated animated movie Sausage Party, which follows food discovering the horrifying truth about what happens when they get purchased by someone, is out in theaters today.
