For months it has been rumored, semi-confirmed, and joked about on the junket circuit and late night talk show circuit, but now it is official: Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to co-star in Spider-Man: Homecoming!

Naturally he’ll be returning to play Tony Stark in the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios production which Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing from a screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Horrible Bosses), with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing alongside Amy Pascal. Tom Holland, the latest actor to play Spider-Man, will make his first appearance as the superhero in next month’s Captain America: Civil War. The events of that film are expected to pay off in Homecoming.

Team Captain America and Team Iron Man are set to go head to head when Captain America: Civil War is released early next month, but in true pro wrestling style, the stars behind the two team captains, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., couldn’t wait that long to throw down.

A new video of the two actors meeting face to face has been released by People, and in it tempers flare when Downey Jr. does the unthinkable: takes the last donut (with red, white, and blue sprinkles). Poor Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) can only look on in horror as she gets deer in headlighted by the confrontation.

Captain America: Civil War is a change of direction for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike previous films, Civil War explores the themes of internal conflict. When the Avengers fail to contain a hostile, governments from around the world unite to enforce the Sokova Accords, a governing system of checks and balances that would oversee and deploy the team whenever it is deemed necessary. That kind of oversight does not sit well with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who firmly believes that the safest hands are their own. However, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) fully supports government oversight and accountability. This puts a rift in their friendship, and to make matters worse Bucky (Sebastian Stan) is forced out of hiding when he is accused of acts of terrorism.

We were invited to sit with a group of our fellow journalists at the press conference for Captain America: Civil War where the panel was broken down into two panels. One for Team Iron Man and the other for Team Cap. There are no successful superhero film franchises under one roof like the ones over at Marvel Studios. Time and time again the studio has repeated its success, risen to beat expectations, and even found ways to reinvent itself to keep their respective franchises fresh and engaging. These sequels are no longer sequels, they are political thrillers, fantasy adventures, buddy cops comedies, heist capers, space operas, and much more to come.

Now the studio will christen Phase 3 of the MCU with a bold new storytelling direction. Starting off with Captain America: Civil War, where our heroes and their beliefs come into conflict as Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) will engage in an ideological battle that will determine the fate of the Avengers.

During the next few weeks we will slowly be rolling out more news about Captain America: Civil War. The ensemble film is unlike anything fans have ever seen in any Marvel Cinematic Universe film. And as such we will try to post the least amount of spoilers.

However, this latest bit isn’t so much of a spoiler, but is about a character that didn’t make the final cut. We sat with a group of journalists during the film’s press conference where Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told us that Wasp was in the early drafts of Civil War.
