| Warner Brothers Assembles Animation Creative Group With ‘Muppets,’ ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’ Filmmakers |

Despite being the proud parent company of properties like Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes, Warner Brothers hasn’t put out a full-length animated feature film in a very long time. There are the occasional direct-to-home entertainment releases which features DC Comics’ finest, but for the most part we haven’t seen a true WB animated film in a long time. Pixar and DreamWorks animation have been the forefront of the animation genre, consistently putting out new films every year. Part of that reason is because of the established brain trust they have created at the dawn of their company’s inception. Together, these respective creative groups methodically have created stories and visions, and devised plans on how they will carry them out. Now WB wants a part of that action, and they have started with a brain trust of their own, which consists of some of the most reputable people in the animation and entertainment industry.

| Elizabeth Banks & Morgan Freeman Lend Their Voices For ‘Lego: The Piece Of Resistance’
At first I thought a Lego movie would literally fall apart into multicolored pieces. The idea of a film centered on the connective building blocks sounded like a bad one. Then 21 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were brought in to direct and it was revealed that title would be Lego: The Piece of Resistance, and that Channing Tatum and Will Arnett will voice Batman and Superman, two supporting characters who will appear in the film. And now comes word that Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks are signed on to lend their voices to the film as well. This certainly sounds like anything but a bad idea.

| Watch Now: 5-Minute ’21 Jump Street’ Red Band Trailer
I initially found it disappointing that Jonah Hill was using his well-earned celebrity clout to mount a big-screen 21 Jump Street movie, even though the actor was insisting it would be funny and violent. I got even less interested when Channing Tatum, the moderately talented human two-by-four from the Step Up movies and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, signed on to be Hill’s co-star. The trend of reviving outdated television series as outsized comedy flicks, kicked off in 1987 with Dragnet, has never caught on as an actual trend and the original 21 Jump Street show was not something I was a fan of anyway. Then the first trailer for the movie hit and I found it really funny. Now, there’s a newer, longer, and more profane 21 Jump Street trailer for you to laugh your ass all the way through. You can watch the red band clip here below, but be advised: there’s a ton of swearing in it.

| ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’ Directors To Deliver LEGO Movie
Warner Brothers has chosen a duo to write and direct a new feature-length movie set around the universally popular building block toys, LEGO. The studio has set Phil Lord and Chris Miller to handle the duties after they impressed both WB and LEGO — who has to approve all decisions to ensure that they’re name remains untarnished — with their pitch for the movie. One of the concerns was whether to make the movie an animated one or to go live-action with it. Considering how often it is done these days with current CGI and motion capture technologies, it would seem that the best bet would be to mix animations and live-action, and that’s exactly the pitch that was made by Lord and Miller.
