Baywatch header

The long-gestating adaptation of Baywatch may actually be happening this time. After going through numerous script drafts, Paramount believes that Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is the right person to helm the adaptation of the beach-based drama action television series that aired 242 episodes and was on air for 11 seasons. But rather than have the series star David Hassseloff make the slow-motion run on the beach to make a lifesaving rescue, it looks like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be the one to take his place and lead his team of bikini-clad lifeguards who patrol the sunny sandy beaches of Los Angeles, California. Guillermo del Toro

The Hollywood Reporter ran an article yesterday about how Warner Bros. is currently in the process of moving some of their less kid-friendly DC Comics movie projects, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s Sandman adaptation, over to their New Line Cinema division.

Buried at the very end was the most distressing news the article contained: Guillermo del Toro is no longer directing Justice League Dark, by far the one future DC film venture I wanted to see made more than anything.

Rampage

Earlier this month we found out that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was set to star in a remake of John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China.

Now comes word that Johnson will also be starring in Rampage, a movie adaptation of the classic arcade game of the same name. Exact plot details for the movie haven’t been shared yet, but the game sees you wreaking havoc on a city as one of three monsters—a very King Kong-like gorilla, a very Godzilla-like lizard, and a giant werewolf—so you can probably get a decent idea of where they’re going with it just based on that.

Dwayne Johnson

Like most movie remake news, it is unwelcomed. No matter who is attached or who stars in it, fans will speak out against the remake project, especially when it comes to cult films. So when word got out that Dwayne Johnson would be involved in the remake of Big Trouble In Little China, fans were especially displeased. But Johnson has proved himself to be a leading man on the big screen, and that he can also share the spotlight with a star-studded cast. He is even showing fans of the original that he has the best intentions, by asking John Carpenter himself to work on the film.

Dwayne Johnson talking Black Adam for MTV UK

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is making the promotional rounds for his new movie San Andreas and the actor is never one to miss out on an opportunity to be entertaining and also take up serious discussions like “Could DC Comics’ villainous Black Adam take out Marvel Comics’ King of the Inhumans, Black Bolt?” According to Johnson, “Black Adam would crush Black Bolt.”

MTV UK was doing the interviewing that brings up the very serious subject matter and you can check out a video of it below. While the guys over at MTV think Johnson is “confused” and “adorable” about the Marvel universe. I myself can tell that The Rock is laying the sarcasm on thick.
