A24 has released an official trailer for an upcoming drama titled Hot Summer Nights, which stars recent Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird), Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest), and Alex Roe (The 5th Wave, Rings).

The film is a coming of age story, following Daniel Middleton (Chalamet) as he spends a summer on Cape Cod, falls for a girl (Monroe), and lands a summer gig teaming up with a drug dealer (Roe).

Netflix has released a new trailer for their upcoming original movie War Machine, which is directed by David Michôd (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) and stars Brad Pitt. The streaming service acquired the film back in 2015.

The movie is based on the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan, and tells the story of the rise and fall of a four-star general (played by Pitt).

Why on Earth is GoD featuring aMetallica video for Black Metal Friday, you ask? Well, just two days ago, the trash metal legends released videos for all 13 tracks from their highly anticipated tenth studio album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, which is available worldwide today, November 18, 2016, via the band’s own Blackened Recordings label.

One of those clips was for the song “ManUNkind” and featured a group of actors performing onstage in corpse paint and bearing a striking resemblance to the notorious Norwegian band Mayhem. I had commented in my review of Hardwired… To Self-Destruct yesterday that I thought it was just Metallica’s way of trolling the metal trolls. Well, it turns out that it is actually our first look at Lords Of Chaos, the upcoming feature film following the almost surreal saga of Mayhem.

Last December, it was reported that over 2,500 actors auditioned for the role of young Han Solo in the untitled Star Wars Han Solo spinoff from The LEGO Movie directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord. The expectations are high to find the right person to fill the role considering how iconic the legendary smuggler is in the Star Wars universe.

Filming isn’t expected to begin until 2017, yet Disney and Lucasfilm are looking for actors this early on. And there is a reason for that. Apparently, they want to have the role cast so that Han Solo can make a cameo appearance in another Star Wars spinoff film. According to a new report, the list of 2,500 actors auditioning for the role has been reduced to a mere dozen. During 2013 the majority of characters in cinema experienced a relentless assault of either irrepressible physical violence or emotional turmoil, resulting in each character clinging to their lives, praying that they won’t become defeated. Characters had to either sink or swim. No film provided for them a middle ground that would grant them an easy way out or provide a buoy for them. Characters had to act, and act fast.

In Gravity, becoming disconnected from her partner in the infinite void of space, Dr. Stone had to gain composure quickly or endure an onslaught of debris and isolation. In The Place Beyond the Pines, a cop had to rely on his survival instincts and the ramifications of his decision reverberated throughout generations. In Blue is the Warmest Color, a confused teenage woman, utterly love-sick, discovers the throes and pangs of first love and is left even more confused after the indelible experience. In Dallas Buyers Club, an AIDs victim with a guaranteed death-sentence uses his situation to give hope to thousands of other AIDs victims. And in The Counselor, a man’s experience overwhelms him and he is soon exposed to the most unsavory circumstances that are beyond his control and the most heinous individuals.

Without further hesitance, the best 2013 had to offer.
