Holiday Geek Gift Guide 2017: Blu-ray and DVD Edition
|

Ladies and gentlemen, that sainted time of year is once again upon us. Stuffed to the eyeballs with carbohydrate-loaded food, we suck in our guts, put on our finest ensemble of pajama pants and Crocs, and venture out to the nearest mall/shopping center/big box retailer/gas station/roadside flea market to secure gifts for the ones we love. Meanwhile, the ones we tolerate will simply have to suffice with “A Tree Has Been Planted In Your Name” certificates and that fruitcake your grandfather accidentally sat on during Sunday dinner.
As we do every time around this time, Geeks Of Doom has provided for you a comprehensive guide to the finest films and TV series released to DVD and Blu-ray in 2017 (if you’re holding out for laserdisc or Betamax editions of these titles, I both pity and respect you) for you and yours to enjoy for generations to come.
Check out this year’s Holiday Geek Gift Guide: Blu-ray & DVD Edition…

Top 10 Movies Of 2017 … So Far – Baadasssss’ Picks

So far, 2017 has been yet another interesting year at the movies – plenty of record-smashing blockbusters, even more embarrassing flops and failed franchise starters, and some unique indies that always tend to fly under the radar. We still have a few more months to go and lots more to watch, both on the big screen, the small screen, and the even smaller screens of our desktops and laptops. The ride has yet to begin, I fear.
Submitted for your approval, here are the top 10 best films I’ve seen to date this year. I still have many more to catch up, so good thing I have several streaming options that are really worth the money.

“Somebody please get this man a gun!”
With 2014’s John Wick, co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch delivered a stylish neo-noir action thriller with hyper-kinetic fight choreography and sophisticated “gun fu” a-la John Woo’s The Killer. In the follow-up, John Wick: Chapter 2, Stahelski and returning screenwriter Derek Kolstad attempt to delve deeper into Wick’s internal struggle and expand the franchise’s mythology.
After unleashing hell on the Russian mobsters who killed his dog, retired hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves)’s plans to resume a quiet civilian life are cut short when Italian gangster Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) shows up on his doorstep with a gold “marker†compelling him to repay past favors.

‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Trailer: How Good It Is To See Mr. Wick So Soon

Of course, he’s back. Having a one and done film for John Wick (Keanu Reeves) didn’t seem appropriate for the man, the myth, and the legend. So the successful film about the former assassin who came out of retirement after the son of a crime boss killed his beloved dog (which was also a gift from his dying wife) is getting a well-deserved sequel, and it looks like it will live up to expectations.
Lionsgate has released the second trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2, and the action can only go up from here. Especially since there is a mark on him.
Check out the latest trailer here below.

NYCC 2016: ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Trailer Keanu Reeves Is Out Of Retirement, Again

For a guy who says he is out of the game, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) certainly has a hard time grasping the concept of retirement. Which is a good thing for us, especially if you were a fan of the first film. Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have released the first trailer today for John Wick: Chapter 2 at the New York Comic-Con. The first film, 2014’s John Wick, was very ambitious but caught everyone’s attention because of the visually appealing stylized action, and now it looks like returning director Chad Stahelski is turning it up in the sequel that will see the title character doing so much more than kick ass in a tailored suit.
Check out the trailer below.

‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Gets A Sharp Tailor-Made NYCC Poster

My love for John Wick comes from the title character’s determination to get justice for his dog’s killer. And when I say justice, I mean deadly revenge since he was a retired assassin whom some in his profession thought of as the Boogie Man. Sure enough, the action flick starring Keanu Reeves was a hit with audiences, which of course meant that Lionsgate had to put John Wick: Chapter 2 into production. Luckily, he won’t be motivated to kill because his new dog died, but a former associate seems to bring him out of hiding when he tries to gain control of an assassins’ guild.
Now that Wick has a reason to come out of retirement, again, he will have to do it in style. Check out the latest teaser poster for the film below.
