The Magnificent Seven Teaser Trailer

It’s been quite a while since we first heard rumors about actors like Tom Cruise and Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Costner starring in a remake of the 1960 western classic The Magnificent Seven for MGM. None of those rumors played out, but the remake still moved forward, and, as promised when we saw the first official images yesterday, a trailer for the movie has been released today.

Though it is technically a teaser trailer, our first look at the movie still runs over two minutes in length and shows plenty of footage. Click on over to the other side to check it out.

Magnificent Seven image 04

Last week, CinemaCon attendees were treated to the first look at the Antoine Fuqua-directed remake of The Magnificent Seven. The original film was released back in 1960, and starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Eli Wallach, and James Coburn. Such legendary actors gathering together for a great film, its reimagining would at least have to match that all-star caliber. And as such, it was announced that Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Byung-hun Lee would be starring in the film. With names like that, it looks like they got the job done on paper at least.

Now Sony has released the first official set of images of the cast in their western getups, and plans on releasing the first trailer tomorrow. Check out the images below.

Jurassic World

When the Jurassic Park franchise was officially revived with the release of Jurassic World last month, it immediately made a huge impact by scoring $208.8 million to start things off, beating The Avengers‘ opening weekend record of $207.4. Something Marvel was cool enough to tip their hat to with a congratulatory message.

Now it appears another congratulations from Marvel is in order. It’s being reported that Jurassic World has now leapfrogged The Avengers once again, this time to take the number three all-time highest grossing movie worldwide spot. The movie has made $1.522 billion, passing the former number three’s $1.520 billion. The only two movies ahead of it now are James Cameron’s Titanic, which made almost $2.2 billion worldwide, and Cameron’s Avatar, which made almost $2.8 billion. Two other movies from this year have also made it into the top ten all-time worldwide: Furious 7 with $1.5 billion, and Avengers: Age of Ultron with $1.4 billion.

Vincent D'Onofrio in Jurassic World

Set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Colin Trevorrow‘s Jurassic World sees the dinosaur theme park fully restored and operational. But even with its success, the park needs to find ways to attract new visitors, and at InGen’s request, the science team created the Indominus Rex, a fearsome hybrid dinosaur that grows beyond InGen’s control. Now, it is up to Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a raptor whisperer, Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), the park’s CEO, and the island’s private security force to stop the monstrous creation before she can cause more damage.

In the film, Vincent D’Onofrio plays Vic Hoskins, the leader of Jurassic World’s private security force, who is also trying to utilize the park’s dinosaurs for military purposes. We had the opportunity to talk to D’Onofrio over the phone about the film, his character, and working with director Colin Trevorrow. We also had a chance to reminisce about working with Rick Baker on the set of Men in Black, and were reminded about Marvel’s code of silence.

Check out the full interview below.
