We’ve heard rumors in the past of a possible Han Solo origins story being the focus of one of the Star Wars spinoff movies, and today those rumors become fact.

It’s being reported that a movie focusing on a young Han Solo is on the way, and it will be directed by the hot directing duo of Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the team behind The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street and its sequel 22 Jump Street, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

The thought of 21 Jump Street and Men In Black crossing over may have sounded like a crazy idea at first, but those leaked e-mails have confirmed such talks are being discussed. With studios jumping in to make almost every franchise they own a shared universe, crossing over Jump Street and MIB would be a great way to share and expand. A report from The Wrap says that Sony is working on expanding the Jump Street franchise with a female spinoff, while Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are working on the MIB crossover side.

A comedic animated Spider-Man film was first revealed after Sony’s private e-mails were leaked last year. These e-mails revealed that Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 and 22 Jump Street) would be involved in a creative capacity.

It would be months before an actual confirmation could be made, with the two playing coy during every interview opportunity. Sony is announcing that an Untitled Spider-Man animated film is in the works. Hit the jump for more.

It’s a bit hard to remember that there is going to be a film based on The Flash, especially since the hit TV show is running around and giving the CW huge rating. But The Flash is coming, and it stars Ezra Miller. We still don’t know what iteration of the character the actor will be playing. With the studio hard at work getting the ball rolling on the other DC films — Green Lantern, Shazam, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and more — it has just been announced that The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been hired to write a draft. Jason Segel (The Muppets) and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) to write and co-direct the latest LEGO Movie spinoff, The Billion Brick Race. The two, better known for their writing, will be making their directorial debuts with the new film. Ninjago and The LEGO Batman Movie are among the other LEGO-related movie spinoffs slated for release.

We can’t be sure what the film will be about since it is in the early stages of development. But if Segel and Pearce are on board as writers and directors, then you can be sure it will be funny and action-packed. Hit the jump for more.
