Shudder has released a new trailer for Creepshow, their upcoming anthology series based on Stephen King and George A. Romero‘s 1982 movie of the same name.

In addition to the new trailer, a behind the scenes video was also released last week. You can find both below, along with more info on the series and details on all 12 of the segments—two segments per episode—that we’ll see in the debut season.

Booth 2304 at this year’s New York Comic-Con was once again occupied by the fine folks at Storm King Comics. Led by matriarch Sandy King Carpenter, they welcomed writers, artists, collaborators, and more. I was there to interview Mike Sizemore, who contributed an 8-issue story, Vortex, to the John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction comic book anthology. I was introduced to David J. Schow, writer of countless novels, short story collections as well as the noted screenwriter of The Crow and Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part III. Schow is currently working with Storm King on The Standoff, the latest in the monthly Tales of Science Fiction line. See below for my interview with Schow.

Back in 2015, John Carpenter once again re-invented himself and created Tales For a HalloweeNight from Storm King Productions. Created alongside wife and collaborator Sandy King, Storm King has produced comics and anthologies including Asylum and John Carpenter’s Tales of Science Fiction. Volume 3 of the annual HalloweeNight horror anthology debuts today, the week of New York Comic-Con, and features stories by The Horror Master himself, Sandy King, and constant collaborators James Ninness, Duane Swierczynski, David J. In 1968, a horror movie from director George A. Romero came out called Night of the Living Dead. Nearly 50 years later, zombie horror is “alive” and well, with hit shows like The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book series. Over the past decade, we’ve seen a renaissance of zombie fiction in all forms of entertainment, from comics to novels like World War Z (Max Brooks) and Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (Seth Grahame-Smith) to TV and film. Zombie even manage to cross over into other genres. The TV series iZombie takes the flesh eaters into the world of police forensics and the underground “brain trade.” Movies like Warm Bodies (2013) showed zombies can be romantic and of course Shaun of the Dead (2004) proved they can be the butt of jokes.

Though, there was a time when zombies were not the “it” thing in horror, but back in 1989, an undead anthology called Book of the Dead (edited by John Skipp & Craig Spector) made zombie literature cool again. Nights of the Living Dead is a collection of original zombie short stories all based in the world Romero built. What’s really interesting is reading the introductions by Romero himself and co-editor, author, and unabashed Romero fanboy, Jonathan Maberry.
