Robert Downey Jr. Will Return As Tony Stark In ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
For months it has been rumored, semi-confirmed, and joked about on the junket circuit and late night talk show circuit, but now it is official: Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to co-star in Spider-Man: Homecoming!
Naturally he’ll be returning to play Tony Stark in the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios production which Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing from a screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (Horrible Bosses), with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing alongside Amy Pascal. Tom Holland, the latest actor to play Spider-Man, will make his first appearance as the superhero in next month’s Captain America: Civil War. Michael Keaton Becomes Early Contender For ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Villain Role

Justin Kroll at Variety is reporting that none other than Michael Keaton is in early talks to play the film’s mystery villain, which could possibly turn out to be the winged supercriminal the Vulture if the rumors are true.

‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Will Feature Appearances From Marvel Cinematic Universe Characters
In less than a month, the Marvel Cinematic Universe adds one of the most iconic superheroes in history to its roster when Spider-Man, played by British actor Tom Holland, makes his first MCU appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Then he’ll be getting his own big-screen reboot, directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, which might be called Spider-Man: Homecoming if recently leaked developments are to be trusted.
There have been murmurings since Sony and Marvel made their deal last year to co-produce a new Spider-Man movie that other characters from the MCU could show up in the reboot, possibly including Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark/Iron Man. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige pretty much confirmed that this will happen without revealing which characters would appear:

“I can no longer continue my fight against the criminal element of this city while dressed as a poorly-attired minion of the dark lord Satan,” Daredevil said to the assembled press early this morning. “I am now….Risk-Averse Angel!”
