| Batman and ‘Smallville’ Lead DC’s Charge Into Digital
DC Comics announced today that the comic book publishing company would be expanding its digital comics initiative with brand new weekly comics with Smallville Season 11, Batman, and a manga-inspired Ame Come line leading the charge. Alright DC Comics, you’ve got my attention. This news story comes alongside a nice feature with writer Bryan Q. Miller on USA Today as he discusses preview pages and the previously announced Smallville Season 11 weekly digital comics series that follows the events of the popular TV show, which finally hits the digital platform today. Next month, Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti will begin a new weekly digital comic based on Manga style that focuses on Wonder Woman and other female superheroes which takes the Ame Comi name from DC’s popular statue line. Where this gets really interesting to me, however, is with the announcement of the weekly Batman comics.

| DC Comics Introduces National Comics To Debut In July
DC Comics announced on Monday that it would be introducing a new done-in-one brand named National Comics to explore single characters within the DC universe. This new series of one shots will focus on four announced characters that exist within the “New 52” universe, but do not have a complete home or place, so far. The titles announced are Eternity, Madame X, Rose and Thorn, and Looker. Each comic centers around previously explored characters in the old, even pre-Crisis DC Universe. Which makes all of this very interesting. We’ll take a look at the idea of National Comics as a brand after we take a look at each series and the creators that are involved. Ready to go?

We’ve got some awesome stuff coming in Dark Horse Presents, hopefully a good starting point for Animal Man, the second part of Superman’s origin in Action Comics, the newest issue of “The Best Comic In The World” Locke and Key, the second issue in what could be the best new comic of the year in Fatale, another strong candidate for comic of the year with Winter Soldier, and even more in single issues, you guys. That’s not even touching the collected editions, but we’ll get to that later. Some of the comics mentioned above will be chosen, but which ones are as yet undetermined, so read forth young geeklings to find what books that we have picked out for you… within The GoD List.

| Creative Team Shake Up On Three DC Comics |
 |

DC Comics announced on Tuesday that a handful of comics in the “dark” line of “The New 52” would have a changing of creative teams. Stormwatch, Justice League Dark, and Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E. will all be affected by this shift of comic book writers including Peter Milligan, Jeff Lemire, and Matt Kindt. First up, let’s take a look at Stormwatch. Stormwatch, in my opinion, has been a sleeper hit that has yet to appeal to a mass audience under the guidance of the incomparable Paul Cornell. And while I’ve loved the series, I can admit that the comic has yet to take off or feel important, so it’s not a surprise to me that veteran Peter Milligan has replaced Cornell to bring a new direction to the series. Cornell announced a couple of months ago that he would be leaving the title, but until now we haven’t learned who his permanent replacement would be. Milligan promises to bring an added intensity to the title that will force the science fiction nature of this book to become even more prevalent and it will certainly breathe new life into the title.

| The GoD List: Comics For December 13, 2011 |
 |

Each and every week “Henchman24″ MK2Fac3 and “Dr. McDavid” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of December 14, 2011. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. The collective “HenchFac3” attempts to bring you the knowledge of the latest and greatest comic books that are being released each and every week. Now, unfortunately, the situation does not always play out in the manner in which we have anticipated. Sometimes, we pick absolute flops. Sometimes we pick books that don’t even ship that week. And sometimes, we pick the same comic every month. We’re not theoretical physicists, and as much as MK2Fac3 wants you to believe that he’s Batman, he’s totally not. He cannot prepare for any and all eventualities. But more often than not, we pick some really good books. And while our track record does not garner us a perfect score, I think that if you pick up this week’s books, you’ll be more than impressed with our choices. For we are “The HenchFac3,” and this, well this is The GoD List.
