Benderspink will be teaming with Wizard Magazine founder Gareb Shamus to option Jimmy Palmiotti and Phil Noto‘s futuristic western The New West. Palmiotti and Noto’s 2-issue story, that was published under Wizard‘s Black Bull Entertainment, took place during the not to distant future after an electromagnetic pulse was set off in Los Angeles, forcing a man to fight his way to save a kidnapped government official while only being armed with a horse and a sword. Which, if you ask me, is total unadulterated awesomeness.

Icon, the creator-owned subsidiary of publisher Marvel Comics, has possibly one of the best stables of creators and comic book titles in their arsenal, and care of Comixology, you can catch up on titles like Criminal, Powers, Casanova, and more with a cool 20 percent off sale. Yes, that’s right! You’ve seen the praise for Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips‘ creator-owned work on this site before, and that’s with good reason, as Criminal and Incognito are two of the most innovative works in their fields. Both comics completely suck you in to their gritty, crime-ridden world setting and tell a story that is simply unforgettable. I even suggested that you catch up on Criminal on this past week’s GoD List, so if you for some reason weren’t listening to me, here’s your perfect opportunity. There’s not a single issue of Criminal or Incognito for over the price of $1.50. What are you waiting for?

Candy hearts, chocolates, heart-shaped cakes and pizzas, and an open bag of Doritos on the floor next to your bed, this could only mean one thing, it’s Tuesday! But it’s not just Tuesday, no sir or ma’am! It’s more than Tuesday! While it is in fact true that it’s Tuesday, it’s also Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day can mean a variety of things depending on the person. But whether you’re single, you really enjoy Valentine’s Day, or if you just feel like you’ve gotta buy your significant other something, we here at Geeks of Doom have put together a little list of comic books to get you through this day filled with love, chocolate, and corporate interest to make you spend money on an item to prove something that you should be proving every day! And isn’t that what it’s all about, love and stuff? Sure is! So, without further ado, here are five of my favorite romantic stories in comics in what I consider Comics’ Finest Love Stories. Admittedly, I don’t read a lot of love stories in comics, so this list may get really weird, really quick. Anyway, here it goes!

You Dare Call That Thing Human?!?
Adam WarRock
CD
Bandcamp
Release Date: February 13, 2012
Adam WarRock continues to perfect his unique sound as You Dare Call That Thing Human?!? shows the artist’s growth from comic book-themed rapper to serious emcee with a comic book twist. Adam WarRock, otherwise known as Eugene Ahn, has grown considerably over the past few years and that is most evident with his latest album. Starting off with 2010’s The War For Infinity, the self-proclaimed “Internet’s Foremost Comic Book Rapper” showed hip hop fans a brand new sound that blended the east coast style of acts like The Wu-Tang Clan with the nerdcore sound of acts like MC Lars, while also telling a story centered around Marvel Comics’ event comic The Infinity Gauntlet. While WarRock has not abandoned this style at all, Ahn seems to have completely found his voice with You Dare Call That Thing Human?!?
